Aunque no pocos asocian a Tony \u00c1vila solo con la guaracha y el doble sentido de sus textos, en la cuerda de figuras como \u00d1ico Saquito y Faustino Oramas \u201cel Guayabero\u201d, semejante aproximaci\u00f3n resulta muy reduccionista. Quien revise la obra de este habanero por nacimiento y cardenense por adopci\u00f3n, se percatar\u00e1 que \u00e9l es un trovador en toda la extensi\u00f3n del t\u00e9rmino. En su repertorio podemos encontrar piezas que van desde el son hasta la canci\u00f3n, pasando por el bossa-nova, con tem\u00e1ticas que abordan problem\u00e1ticas sociales tanto cubanas como de car\u00e1cter mundial.<\/p>\n\n\n

Buena muestra del amplio diapas\u00f3n que tipifica el quehacer de Tony \u00c1vila se pone de manifiesto en Universos<\/em>, disco que ve la luz a trav\u00e9s del sello Bis Music y con producci\u00f3n a cargo de Jos\u00e9 Manuel Garc\u00eda Su\u00e1rez. Tengo que decir que desde que escuch\u00e9 por primera vez de forma \u00edntegra este fonograma, he repetido su audici\u00f3n en reiteradas ocasiones dada la variedad y riqueza del material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musicalmente, Universos <\/em>es un \u00e1lbum que si bien apuesta por la cuban\u00eda, en virtud de la diversidad gen\u00e9rica y estil\u00edstica que en \u00e9l apreciamos, encaja a la perfecci\u00f3n en los par\u00e1metros de la hibridaci\u00f3n como concepto sociocultural, portador de una est\u00e9tica que rompe con las condiciones restrictivas establecidas bajo la idea de cierto tipo de nacionalismo o etnocentrismo. He ah\u00ed otro m\u00e9rito de la presente propuesta fonogr\u00e1fica, por dem\u00e1s rica en colores y texturas gracias a la variedad de instrumentos aqu\u00ed empleados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este disco ratifica que la autenticidad de alguien como Tony \u00c1vila resulta la herencia de una tradici\u00f3n que funcion\u00f3 y ha seguido funcionando como una especie de cr\u00f3nica donde se pueden constatar las distintas dimensiones de lo social y tambi\u00e9n de lo \u00edntimo, o sea, desde una visi\u00f3n l\u00edrica de la sociedad hasta los problemas m\u00e1s agudos del hombre, de su vida cotidiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En los textos de las canciones de Tony recogidas en el \u00e1lbum Universos <\/em>existe un equilibrio entre el lenguaje raigalmente po\u00e9tico, ejemplo el tema \u201cLluvia\u201d, y el narrativo, a partir de contar de cierta manera f\u00e1bulas, como acontece en el corte titulado \u201cLa yunta\u201d. De tal modo, sin caer en excesos de acritud, \u00c1vila se aleja por completo del discurso art\u00edstico-literario de tono apolog\u00e9tico y moralizante, carente de b\u00fasquedas y de problematizaci\u00f3n, basado en f\u00f3rmulas rudimentarias de dudosa eficacia movilizativa y que tanto hemos padecido en Cuba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\u00ed, con un fonograma como Universos<\/em>, Tony \u00c1vila se ratifica hoy como un creador inscrito en esa tradici\u00f3n de nuestra m\u00fasica popular que act\u00faa como un factor dial\u00f3gico, en el sentido de di\u00e1logo con el entorno, y que ha propiciado, de una u otra manera, una suerte de autorreflexi\u00f3n, de mirarnos por dentro y de ir apuntando hacia los distintos aconteceres de la vida cotidiana en\/de nuestra historia, tanto desde el punto de vista de los problemas sociales como de los \u00edntimos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
